fold & twist rings

fold & twist rings

The second part of the multiple project was creating a jewel out of a 10x10cm silver plate but no other additional material. I decided to create rings but instead of the traditional method of making a ring I decided to mill the silver plate into a certain thickness and use it to make thin rings with a focal point on top through folding and twisting the silver. The idea was that you could choose between different motives on top and also if you want a double or single ring. I chose one motive – the diamond – to demonstrate the possibilities of this method and to show the beauty of silver. The simple silver diamond works as an eyecatcher, instead of the normally used stones as a centerpiece.

The project was based on the system of multiple jewelry split up in two ways. One was concentrating on creating a multiple with a waste material, which was in my case table protector. I created a series of necklaces focusing on the manufacturing process, so that it can be recreated fast and easily. I decided to stitch with copper thread to give the necklace a more „jewelry-like“ feel. My goal was to create jewelry which can be used in big dimensions and still feel light and soft on the skin. The necklaces are filled with wool for a soft and squishy feeling, so that the wearer would like to touch and engange with the jewel.
The necklaces were shown in a Pop-up shop as well as in a Jewelry gallery, where you can see my necklaces on the poster and the window display.
