cabinet of curiosities
Within this project I was fascinated by the feast „Dias de las muertos“ – the day of the dead in Mexico. I was especially interested in the people and their handling with the death, the way they celebrated and mourned and as a result the extreme, contrasting emotions. The object I created is an own interpretation of my childhood memories and the ambivalence between freedom and security, which can turn into feeling captive. The typographic elements create a patternlike structure, but they also form to a story which originates a puerile energy but is actually a text for grown ups, more than children. The contrariness is intensifyed by the colourful and happy looking figure in contrast to the sceletonlike form and the captivating shape around the puppet.
